Having seen the power of networking in previous careers, I was keen to join a breakfast networking organisation when I started up my travel business, working from home. It can be difficult to build a clientele when you are not ‘out there’ with a shopfront, and passing trade, and I knew that referrals were the best way to grow my business. I had investigated a high profile breakfast networking organisation but was discouraged at the distance I would have to travel, as well as the rigidity of the structure of that particular organisation. When Lawrence, from the Networking Business Clubs, contacted me, I was keen to hear more about his organisation. I was attracted to his easy-going attitude, the fortnightly (rather than weekly) meeting schedule, and the proximity to my home/ business. I also recognised, that, in spite of the up-front cost, it would be a matter of securing only a couple of good bookings to pay back the initial investment, so I signed up immediately. The group was welcoming, extremely friendly and everyone always has something interesting to say about their line of work. I have already used the services of two of the members, and received a booking, having joined less than a month ago! Networking is a fun, interactive and cost-effective way of increasing your client data-base and generating referral business!

Joining the networking business group was the best decision I have made for my business. Not only did it bring me referrals for my business, but it opened up a forum whereby I can meet with other small business owners and gain an insight into their business lives and challenges they face, whilst at the same time I have a group of like minded people to discuss my own business concerns and triumphs. I ran a computer tech support business and was a member of Lawrence's groups for about 5 years. During those 5 years more than half of my new business came either directly or indirectly from the contacts I made at the fortnightly meetings.
